Castle Nieul-lès-Saintes (17)

This old stronghold registerd as a Hisotrical Monument will make you travel in a time out of the ordinary. Your imagination will just be vivid as you follow the steps of Ronsard onto the 2 functional drawbridges. From 1370 to 1720, this building was managed by co-lords and at the end of the 18th century, it was sold as a national estate and shared by 3 farmers. In 1972 the current owner fell in love with the historical logis and devoted 50 years of energy in order to make the estate alive again. The castle is surrounded by dry moats and an irregular polygonal enclosure with buttressed walls protruding at the corner of curtain walls of over 12 meters high. These are crowned by the walkway still present on the facade of the two towers. The logis is soberly furnished, recreating medieval atmosphere. The commoons are fitted for living purposes and can be uused for touristic activites. Magnificent vaulted cellars have be restored and 2 underground halls were found under a large square tower discoverd in 1993. Fortified sites of this size are rare in the Saintonge Romane making thei castel particularly interesting. Numerous events were held : concerts, children's events, shows, night events and even some short films (Denis Podalydès film). History and authenticity lovers, take this opportunity to buy yourself an estate gem, in a quiet area, completely private and enjoy the history and the living.

Castle Clamecy (58)

An impressive 18th century chateau, with garden, outbuilding and 5 hectares of grounds between Puisaye and Morvan in the Nièvre region. Set on the edge of a hamlet, the property is accessed via a small road which leads across a discreet bridge over a stream to the entrance gate. Hidden behind tall trees, the main dwelling can only be made out after entering the garden. Adjacent to the entrance, there is a building containing the caretaker's accommodation, which is extended by a section used for agricultural purposes. A peaceful stream runs through the grounds. Probably owned by local dignitaries from the 15th century onwards, the property was later inhabited by one of Louis XVI's bodyguards. However, the most famous resident was a French Major General during the Revolution and the First Empire, who carried out extensive renovation work.

Castle Bourg-en-Bresse (01)

A 117 m² flat with panoramic views in a listed 15th century castle with over 2 ha of grounds in the Ain region, between Lyon and Geneva. The castle, standing on a plateau with thick stone buttresses at the southern tip of the Revermont mountain range, overlooks and keeps guard over the village and the river. After passing through the gate that marks the entrance to the grounds, a vast parking area stretches out in front, and to the right, a tree-lined driveway ascends to the old outbuildings. These are arranged around a courtyard, comprising a farmhouse, a barn and a former convent building that has been converted into lodgings. The architecture, at once simple and angular, testifies to the authenticity of the site. As you look beyond their rendered facades topped by monk-and-nun tiles, the castle can be made out to the south, with its grounds featuring large lawns and shady footpaths. Rebuilt in the 16th century, the east-facing structure is preceded by a gravel area and stands out for its striking four-storey height. The impressive rendered facades are topped by a hip roof with flat tiles. Numerous tall windows let the light stream into the interior. At the north end, it is flanked by a solid square tower. At the end of the 15th century, this tower housed the tomb of Philibert Le Beau, Duke of Savoy, and the chapel of his wife Marguerite of Austria, daughter of Emperor Maximilian I, after whom the staircase in the main building is named. The tower, built of exposed dressed stone, reflects the architectural style of the Renaissance: the cross-mullioned windows, topped with triangular or round-arched pediments, follow the course of the stone staircase. The second floor flat comprises three bedrooms, a spacious living room with an open-plan kitchen, a bathroom and a separate lavatory. The site, mansion and outbuildings have all been listed as historic monuments since 2004.

Castle Evry (91)

Located in Essonne 35 km south of Paris, this castle of 1500m ² built in 1848, of a classic and very balanced architecture, was completely restored in 2012. With a harmonious style on its four facades, the castle is characterized by its Mansart style roof, its balusters on the 3 levels, its facades in stone and stucco, the pilasters on the ground floor and upstairs, its arched doors ... The interior of the castle enjoys by its volumes with rooms both vast and proportionate. The entrance hall with its masterful staircase sets the tone as soon as you enter the door: marble, columns, stone, ironwork and high ceilings. The 4 reception rooms facing the park are the same way: large glass doors guarantee a permanent brightness, parquet floors of Hungary, marble fireplaces, mirrors, moldings, gilding and a set of very nice woodwork in the music room. The contemporary kitchen on the ground floor fits perfectly with the whole. On the first floor, a master suite, including a large room overlooking the park, a bathroom, a dressing room and a gym. Five other rooms with bathroom and marble fireplace offer different themes. On the 2nd floor, 10 studio-rooms with bathrooms. The basement area hosts an extensive spa including swimming pool, sauna, steam room, massage room, gym. A workshop and a wine cellar complete this level. The 10-hectare park starts from a flat area on the upper part where the castle is located, then gradually goes down towards the valley. From the vast terrace of the castle overlooking the park, a large lawn gently sloping to the belvedere provides a nice perspective on the gardens. Below a stretch of meadow and a wood. From the right side of the terrace, you can see a nice pond with a pavilion, a tennis court at the back and then a wooded area. The entire English park is harmonious and leaves unobstructed views of the valley. Several golf courses are located nearby. Access to the property is easy from Paris by the A6 motorway or from Charles de Gaulle airport by the Francilienne. Bertrand GUENIOT +33671071839
